Elcap Youth Project

Easington Lane Community Access Point saw the start of their brand new era. We were successful in winning the tender from Sunderland Youth Development Group to manage the youth work in the South of the City. We also managed to secure funding from URBAN II to fund two youth managers to manage the project due to the size of the area. The project was named Elcap Youth Project and focuses on reaching young people and informally educating them through music, art and drama.

Christmas 2006 saw a brand new approach to breaking down barriers within geographical areas and bringing young people together who have the same interests and common goals...Music and Mc-ing. A Mc night was held in aid of raising funds for the Community Christmas Memorial tree in High Street Easington Lane. Groups of young people from Murton, Hetton and Easington Lane met up and performed to an audience of 120 young people. It was a well supervised and very well presented activity and young people have asked for it to be an annual event
